Porsche 911 RSR: The Ultimate Balance
The 911 RSR that will race in the GT championships next year marks a turning point nothing short of historic and revolutionary for the Stuttgart’s brand. In fact, and for the first time in history, the 4.0 flat-6 will be positioned in front of the rear axle (yep, right in the middle of the body). This is the main ingredient that the model ready to do battle with Ford GTs and Ferrari 488s showcases, but we must not underestimate the important changes to the suspension, the engine, transmission and brakes. A complete package that revolutionizes the 911 RSR, but that intimidates a bit Porsche’s purists, who will have to assimilate the fact that to beat the competition, sometimes, you have to come to terms with the devil.
The engine is a naturally aspirated one and delivers about 510hp, grounded via a sequential 6-speed gearbox, while carbon fiber panels allowing a quick replacement in case of damage, thanks to a quick release fasteners. The debut is scheduled for January, during the 24h of Daytona. Needless to say, we hope this revolutionary 911, able to challenge any preconceptions, will win its debut.
