Porsche 911 Speedster: The Exclamation Point Over Porsche’s 70 Years
Anticipated during the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Stuttgart horse, the 911 Speedster evolves and takes life for good. Only 1,948 models will be produced and ready to pay homage to one of the most special and popular editions of the legendary 911, in this case based on the recently retired 991 series. At the base of the Speedster we have the 4-liter boxer of the GT3, suitably modified with a kit derived from the GT3 R and a 6-speed manual gearbox (yep, no automatic g’box available). The setup is also derived from the GT3, with adjustments that enhance the effects of the steering rear axle and make its 502 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque perfectly usable on everyday’s roads.
Being a Speedster, one of the main aspects is precisely represented by its canvas top, which can be opened and closed only by hand and which shows off the “double hump” compartment that houses the roof itself, entirely in carbon fiber. Then there are details that also embellish the passenger compartment, both on the dashboard and on the steering wheel, while the Heritage Design Packages offer endless opportunities for customization for the lucky customers. The overall weight does not exceed 1,465 kg, a feather for the carbon-ceramic brakes, while you can enjoy a speed of over 300 per hour, the wind in your hair and the ultimate evolution of the 991, which is the most profitable 911 model series ever produced at the dawn of the 992.
