Porsche Boxster Spyder
HALF-NAKED
Porsche reveals the new Boxster Spyder, the purest new cabrio from Zuffenhausen. The reason is obvious: “the new Boxster Spyder is a dramatic return to the origins of roadsters: 2 seats, better performance, and no space for superfluous things. It is direct, authentic and unconditionally open. It is energetic, impassive, impetuous, wild. In every way, there is no contamination. And it’s the original interpretation of a legend, which began in the 50s with the 550 Spyder”. Two fundamental characteristics: low weight of about 1.395kg, obtained by removing all the unnecessary (including air conditioning and stereo) and power increased to 375-hp provided by the 3.8 six-cylinder that makes the Spyder the most powerful Boxster of all time. The optimal mix of these characteristics led the enviable weight/power ratio of 3.5 kg/hp. In addition, the lightweight frame, the firm suspension damper, a body 20 mm lower than the other Boxster and the Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanically locking rear differential, guarantee a further increase in performance and driving pleasure through corners. A little surprise: it will only be available with a 6-speed manual transmission and therefore dedicated to proper purists. As already said, there is no concessions to comfort, so even the canvas roof will be minimal and should be fixed to the body manually. People that are going to buy it, will put in their garage a “Prancing horse” capable of reaching 290 kph and to sprint from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.5 seconds. Price? About 83,000 €.
