Porsche Cayman S (987)
At the wheel of the first Cayman S, possibly the 2008 restyling, we basically understand two very important things: the first is that it is the most rational of the alternative to the legendary 911, as it is equally sexy, thanks to the classic line that accompanies Porsche for half a century, and the second thing is the outstanding balance that you will find at a performance level, without necessarily spending a fortune to bring it home. Of course, the new model, released in 2012, is more than a simple upgrade, but if your budget amounts to no more than € 35,000, you will also have a more than a decent choice on the second hand market, always referring to the first generation. Based on the Boxster and halfway between it and the 911, the Cayman S has a 6-cylinder 3.4cc centrally located and is available with either manual or automatic PDK gearbox, being able to ground on the rear wheels 320hp and 370Nm of torque. It is not a rocket, it won’t certainly erase a GT3 RS from your desires, but allows performance for having fun both on road and track. One of the many reasons for all of this, it’s a weight below the ton and a half and an overall balance nothing short of outstanding, true highlight of this Porsche with the engine located right behind the driver’s seat. The cockpit is typical from Stuttgart, clean and equipped to perfection, but nothing exaggerated, just because your eyes will always pointing to the road, ideal playground for one of the best sports cars of all time. This model does not offer GTS, nor GT4, nor GT4 Clubsport, but the Cayman R added pepper and exclusivity, just in case your budget could count on a few pounds more.
