Porsche Celebrates 70 Years of Awesome Sports Cars With A New Speedster Concept
Porsche celebrates its 70th anniversary unveiling a very special model that best evokes one of the most successful variants on the 911 theme. The 911 Speedster Concept is also able to perfectly combine the path that the German brand has created during its years of existence, evolving a retro look on one of the most drivers-focused sports cars currently available on the market, the 911 GT3.
The Speedster Concept is therefore a beautiful one-off – for now – but fully functional and powered by the naturally aspirated 6-cylinder 4-liter boasting 500-horsepower that gives voice to the most unmistakable sounds that your eardrums can hear. A tribute to its purists, given that in view of a possible limited production, it would be only offered with a 6-speed manual transmission, while everything else is devoted to lightness, having said goodbye to the infotainment system and air conditioning.
The double bubble located just behind the only two seats is a clear tribute to the 1988 Speedster, while other details such as the fuel cap, the rear view mirrors and the same color pattern of the silver body that contrasts the brown leather of the cockpit are a reference to the Porsche of the mid-50s. There is also a beautiful set of 21-inch Fuchs wheels and of course the number 70 stickers on the sides. We don’t know if this is going to correspond to the amount of units that Porsche will produce of this wonderful birthday gift, but what is certain is that the tradition continues in the best way. Happy anniversary Porsche!
