Renault Clio RS
The story is always the same: with a few, very little money, you can put your back on the seat of a fun and reliable RenaultSport, able to shoot you between a corner and the other at speeds you thought were impossible. The 2009 Clio RS stayed on the market until 2013, and is also papal candidate in different versions, but all worthwhile. Three doors, excellent habitability, good old manual transmission, a fantastic chassis and those Recaro seats that keep you firm even when, in the middle of a bend, you are with a wheel hanging in the air. The Clio RS has always been an extraordinary car, except for two aspects: fuel consumption and the new model that just does not convince. The 2.0cc naturally aspirated engine (the last n/a for the Clio RS) delivers 200 horsepower to the front wheels, and even if torque is not exaggerated, you’ll certainly have fun playing with the gearbox, going to put the tachometer needle to the red line and making the engine scream, always looking for those basic 7000rpm. Excellent grip and excellent directionality, thanks to a low weight, a sound worthy of a small rally bomb and the classic usability in everyday life is the result of a massive and racy look, never intrusive or inappropriate. And so you find one with about 10,000 € which are less than the cost of a new Fiat Panda, and there’s just no comparison. Ok, you will make frequent stops for refueling, but between a break and the other, you will be happy and content with one of the best buys you could have possibly done with so little savings that you won’t have to renounce to anything out of your weekly amusement plan.
