Retracing the Rally Sanremo Stages
@thespeedbusters
The good aspects of a crazy winter like this, are the results in the possibility of exploiting the isolated inland roads, usually covered with snow and thus unavailable for certain cars. So we brought the Cinquone USA by Romeo Ferraris in Sanremo, and after turning some curious glances of passers down the main streets, we climbed up toward Perinaldo, Apricale, Vignai and then Badalucco, known locations to those who have attended at least one Rally Sanremo. The first stretch of road, wide enough and with a surface in good condition, has enabled us to really put to the test the 160hp Cinquone (forgive me, since I was sure it has 190!), showing how the fantastic setup and the powerful brakes allow to obviate to the power gap, which anyway does not let you down, especially in winding roads such as these.
After having taken some pictures, the second section of the drive in question has been more insidious and between cows in the middle of the road and other unforeseen circumstances, we had to adapt our pace, thus enjoying the amazing comfort of the smurf blue leather interior of the US model. Overall, it’s been a busy and very entertaining week, and on next issue of Auto Class you will find the complete review with a series of fantastic photos, among supercars at the Cars & Coffee in Monaco, Nico Rosberg, a vintage 500 and a lot more. Do not miss it!
