Route Napoleon
Considered among the 3 best driving roads in Europe, the Route Napoleon takes its name from the epic journey that saw Napoleon crossing the Alps and facing adverse conditions while leaving the Elba isle back in the days.
Location: South-East France
Length: 332 km
From: Cannes
To: Grenoble
Type of Road: fast, panoramic.
You’ve probably read a bunch of things about this road and everyone tend to accentuate the drama that revolves around its 332 kilometers. Let’s say that you can drive it on a single take or enjoy it better and have several stops on your way, like for example Grasse (the perfume capital), Sisteron (with its awesome Citadel) or simply the amazing b-roads that slow down the pace, but let you experience the flavors of the towns along the road. The main route is the N85, the one to keep especially if you want to reach racing circuit speeds in the north section, while the south section – the one connecting Cannes to Digne-les-Bains features a more twisty and mountain-like road, ideal to put your car to the test, but also for immersing through emotional landscapes.
