RUF Yellowbird’s Comeback Is The Perfect 30th Anniversary Gift
It was 1987 and RUF presented a 911 that deeply marked its history. What soon became known as the Yellowbird had 469 horses and was capable of reaching 340 per hour – that was the model that catapulted the German tuner into the Olympus of those few, very few chosen ones able to take an already practically perfect sports car and make it even better. It’s been 30 years and to celebrate this important anniversary, Alois Ruf and his team decided to create a car which for the first time is not based on the Stuttgart’s horse.
In fact, despite the body lines are unequivocally linked to one of the most famous coupe of all time, the 2017 CTR is built around a brand new chassis produced in-house from Ruf – the engine always remains behind the rear axle and the rear-wheel drive has to do with 710 horses and a 6-speed manual gearbox. A carbon fiber body made possible to stop the scales at 1.200kg, offering an exceptional handling and performance like 3.5 seconds for taking from 0-100 kph and a top speed of 360 kph. The 3.6cc is capable of delivering up to 880Nm of torque, already available at just 2.750rpm and its typically retro design gives the immortality that only the legitimate heir of the Yellowbird could inherit. Heaven on Earth has a definite face, but will be exclusive to only 30 lucky owners.
