Tanja Stadnic | Not Something To Everyone, But Everything To Some

Photography is a form of art, we claimed this a thousand times and there is no doubt about that, but maybe there’s something that is going to miss no matters what. It is probably due to the fact that a photo is a moment frozen in time, at disposal for everyone, while on a pure artistic argument a painting is the result of the emotions coming out from the soul of the author. Then, despite being once again at disposal to the eye of the beholder, they’re gonna see exactly what is meant to be seen and this is where a painting, a design or even a sculpture get their unmistakable charm and become something different, not necessarily better, but in a certain way they represent something more alive, a constant emotions evolution that keeps personal touches all over and become much more introspective and complicated than you can imagine, especially if it revolves around your car, as in the case of many of the works made by the beautiful Tanja. She loves Porsche but on top of that she’s incredibly good at painting your very car and creating a masterpiece on canvas to be kept and cherished, thus invigorating the bond you have with your dream car. That’s why I decided to have a chat with her, finding out how everything started and what is the secret behind the magic.
Who is Tanja Stadnic?
I was born in Moldova and since I was a little child, I was never happier than when drawing. Gradually my love of drawing blossomed into a profound passion for art in general. This passion let myself to a course at the Academy of Fine Arts. It’s there where I discovered the painter in me.
How is everything started then?
Well, unlike most men, I obviously was not born with the affection for cars. Instead, as I mentioned, I loved to draw stuff; during one of my visits to Art Galleries, I stumbled across a painting of a 911 and was instantly dazzled by the beauty of it. The funny thing was, by that time we owned a 911 ourselves, but I never made the connection between my Artwork and Porsche. From that moment everything changed and Porsche Acrylic Art was born. I have to admit the first couple of paintings were very difficult to make, as it was something totally different to what I was used to work on. But I was lucky enough to have the ‘life model’ near-by at all times, in order to achieve the level I am at now. But it has been a long effort. To rephrase Dr. Ferry Porsche: “When trying to find the beginning of Porsche Acrylic Art, simply go back to the last touch that was added onto the first painting”.
Are you also a passionate driver?
Yes I love to drive! I am fortunate to drive Porsches. I have a Cayenne e-Hybrid and a 991 GTS 4 Targa. Especially the 911 is such a great car to drive! To me nothing comes even close to that driving experience!
Why Porsche? Is there a particular reason for your love for the brand?
It’s hard to explain, it’s a feeling that goes under the skin. I love everything about the brand. Their cars, their quality, but especially their heritage and passion. All that combined just makes me love painting Porsches and everything else I am doing like CXX customer events.
Tell us a cars-related story you have experienced
I think the most memorable car trip I had was the one to Rennsport Reunion VI which was held at WeatherTech Racetrack in California. Just amazing to see 80.000 + Porsche enthusiast gathering from all over the world, all sharing the same passion for Porsche! On top of that I attended the celebration party at a beautiful Vinyard, were I had the change and opportunity to talk to Dr. Wolfgang Porsche. #goodmemories !
Do you work on commissioned projects or you pick a subject of your choice?
Almost all the work I am doing is based on commission. Obviously sometimes I am also picking subjects for myself in order to develop my own portfolio.
Take us through. How does everything take shape?
It all begins with the request of my client. After the first contact has been established and sizes have been determined I need some favorite pictures of the car I am about to paint. Based on that I set to work. I start with a rough sketch and from there I gradually apply layers of acrylic paint. During the process I update my clients and after 3-4 weeks I am finished and the painting will be shipped including a certificate of authenticity and my own hardcover showcase booklet. All together it’s a passionate journey to create one single painting.
What is the work you are most proud of?
That’s definitely the work I created and personally delivered to Dr. Porsche himself.
If it wasn’t a Porsche, what other car would have been?
That’s a difficult one …’thinking’ …. To me personally nothing comes really close to the passion and love I have towards the Porsche brand, but obviously I also never really tried any other brand, even though I know there are wonderful brands out there! I think a brand should have passion and the one that comes close to Porsche would be Ferrari I guess.
And what are the incoming plans for the future?
Apart from getting commissioned for artwork, I host several events worldwide. One of them is called ‘fine cars – fine art – fine food’. During this event 10 couples come to the Porsche Centre to finish off their own unique painting of their own unique car, with my artistic supervision. The interaction with the people is unbelievably nice! Emotionally, it is very rewarding for me and it gives the excited “younger” artists a special sense of ownership. What will the future bring? We will see! The passion for Porsche is universal, just like the passion for art and I would like to reach out to all geographies with my work. I believe it is every artist’s ultimate goal to be universally acknowledged.
