Targa Florio 2018: The Road of the Myth
The 2018 Targa Florio Classica has been another great success: at the finish line in Piazza Verdi, a huge crowd of enthusiasts celebrated the name of the winning team for the regularity race valid for the third and final stage of the Campionato Italiano Grandi Eventi league on a course of about 676 Km with 105 timed skill tests and 8 regularity stages.
The crews return to the beautiful setting from which they left on Thursday evening, when the public gave the classic Sicilian welcome feel to the race. A name that alone evokes a myth, from numerous points of view. The oldest car race in the world has gathered participants from 5 continents and 19 nations, with historic cars ranging from 1927 to 1976, its most precious treasures, reflecting the spirit of the Targa, passing the torch through centuries of Sicilian history.
To jump on the top step of the podium crew #107 with Giovanni Moceri-Valeria Dicembre, driving a Fiat 508C. In second place Francesco Di Pietra and his son Giuseppe on a 1938 Fiat 508C. On the third step of the podium Mario Passanante, copiloted by Himara Bottini, on a 1937 Fiat 508C. The Targa Florio Classica, once again, confirms itself as a wide-ranging event, not just gravitating around cars, but an opportunity for cultural growth, starting from these pieces of history on wheels that have made the legacy of motorsport and the tradition of entire nations and generations, thus embracing a wider panorama. It is no coincidence that the passion of the public coming from all over Sicily has accompanied every stage of the Targa, with tangible participation.
