The day after my arrival in Stuttgart, I am in Leonberg before 9 o’clock, in order to give way to my test series with four different super Porsche models. Agreeing with Marc, the marketing manager, we decide to open the games with the 718 Cayman S in that beautiful yellow livery that, also thanks to the massive body kit, immediately brings to mind the multi-celebrated GT4. The substantial difference, being a tuning on the new model, is that in mid-rear position there is not a 6-cylinder, but the well-known 4-cylinder turbo brought to you by the latest generation. It does not matter, and indeed, having a Cayman S with the classic 6-cylinder in the garage at home, I’m looking forward to live a driving experience that keeps an eye on the future with a smaller but at the same time more powerful and performing engine.
This yellow Cayman has been able to tame the storm by interrupting the orgy of thunders that were almost about to stop our shooting activities – a 4 cylinder never sang so exciting, almost as if to make its voice heard up to the edge of the atmosphere, with its 400 horses (+50 compared to the standard 718 S) that pushed the coupe with such immediacy and promptness that does not ask for being accepted but that comes to your face like a right hook who does not leave doubts – it hits you and everything turns black, then you slowly reopen your eyes and that yellow silhouette made more aggressive by huge spoilers, side skirts and air intakes look like the product of that cloudy sky above us, ready to mumble uninterruptedly, as soon as I stop filling the valley with engine revs. Yes, that time, the Super-Cayman also tamed the thunderstorm.
