The Fastest 4X4s Money Can Buy In 2022
Back in the day, people bought 4X4s for their ability to roll over difficult terrain and pull other car owners out of ditches. But these days, they’re commonplace. Almost everyone has one.
What’s more, they’re getting faster. 4X4s are no longer all about torque (although they still have plenty of it). They’re also concerned with speed. In this post, we take a look at some of the fastest 4X4 vehicles in the world and what makes them so great.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio
Alfa Romeo is a car brand that historically focused on creating vehicles with beautiful chassis and less aggression than other automakers. However, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is different. While it maintains the classic Alfa look, it is a monster under the hood. Here you’ll find a massive 505-bhp twin-turbo engine capable of catapulting the vehicle to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds according to https://www.motortrend.com, and then on to a top speed of more than 174 mph.
Of course, being an Alfa, the vehicle has its share of issues. By pushing the engineering to its limit, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is a car that is at risk of breaking down. However, as sites like https://thetorqueteam.com/ point out, there are now more repair and service options for 4X4 vehicles than ever before, so getting one of these babies fixed shouldn’t be the hassle it once was.
Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe
Just looking at the AMG GLC 63 S Coupe, you can tell that this is a vehicle made for speed. It has the same engine power as the Alfa Romeo, and can accelerate all the way to 100 mph in a blistering 8.8 seconds. The nice thing about this vehicle, though, is the space it offers passengers inside. It doesn’t feel like you’re in a sports car at all. And while it’s not quite an SUV, there’s plenty of headroom.
Lamborghini Urus
As you might expect, the Lamborghini Urus is one of the most powerful 4X4s available to drive on the road today. It will get you to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of more than 190 mph, making it currently the fastest unmodified all-wheel-drive vehicle in the world. Of course, being a Lamborghini, you’ll pay for the privilege of owning one. Prices start at an eye-watering $222,000 which is €202,000.
Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid
Porshce is fast getting a name for itself as perhaps the world’s leading high-performance car manufacturer. It’s Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid matches the performance of the Urus, thanks to its 670 bhp, 4.0-liter V8 engine. Top speed is around 183 mph.
Tesla Model X
Lastly, we have the Tesla Model X, the fastest 4X4 in the world with a 0 to 60 time of just 2.7 second. Of course, the vehicle’s advantage comes from the fact that it’s electric. However, it also features other supercar options, including gullwing doors and a high top speed. Given the advantages of EV technology, it seems inevitable that the Model X will become the future.
