THE MONOLITH OF THE COL DE LA BONETTE
THE MONOLITH OF THE COL DE LA BONETTE
If you’re climbing the Col de la Bonette, make sure to drive and park next to it. This will tell you’ve really reached the highest paved road in Europe.
Location: Col de la Bonette, FRANCE
Type of PoI: touristic.
Standing at 2,802 meters above the sea level, it has been inaugurated on 1st October 1961. The monolith is of course a massive stone placed right on top of the road and next to a little gravel path that leads to the Cime de la Bonette, this time only reachable by foot.
