The New Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Is Beyond The Dream
It replaces the Vanquish S and brings back the DBS badge in the Aston Martin range, temporarily shelved in favor of the model that passes the torch to this wonderful super GT. Alongside the three famous letters that define the status of the latest Gaydon’s baby, there is the signature of the Italian coachbuilder Superleggera, which has contributed to the creation of some of the most unforgettable and sexy shapes of the English company.
Under the bonnet we find the 5.2-liter V12 twin-turbo that equips the DB11, but here it is brought to 715 horses and delivers something like 700Nm of torque between 1800 and 5000 revs, placed as low and back as possible in order to optimize the distribution of the weights and mate the new 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, mounted on the rear, close to the driving axle of the car, which is then fitted with a mechanical self-locking diff and torque vectoring. This exceptional engineering achievement translates into true supercar performance, such as a 0-100 kph of just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 340 per hour.
Talking about an Aston Martin it seems logical to expect a suit worthy of such performance and in fact the DBS Superleggera has a very aggressive line, with a new black grille at the front, showy ribs on the bonnet and air vents for letting the V12 breath. Solutions like the Aeroblade system remain and are updated, but a pair of rear diffusers are also introduced, being able to generate enough downforce to let you carry this elegant GT with ease in all circumstances and at speed that would cause some trouble to your driving license. The price? We start to talk seriously in the order of € 280,000 and first deliveries will begin in the third quarter of 2018.
