The New Clio RS Gets Some Make-Up: This Is The 220 Trophy
Following the success of its bigger sister, the Megane RS Trophy which has imposed itself as the best front-wheel drive hot-hatch, the new Clio RS, which so far has fallen short of the previous model, plays the Trophy’s ace, thanks to a sharper chassis and a few more horsepower. The result of a bigger turbo and of a new exhaust system thus leads to 220 horsepower and 260Nm of torque which, distributed on the front wheels thanks to a device for optimizing the torque control, allows to lower the bar of performance. Thanks to the “Torque Boost”, in fourth and fifth gear you can also output a higher peak torque (+ 20Nm) and thus attain 280Nm. Interesting news is the EDC transmission that let shifting speeds improving by about 40% in Normal and Sport and by 50% in Race. A greater involvement at the wheel could definitely make us close an eye on the look of the new clumsy Clio: we just have to test it!
