TIMMELSJOCH
Also known as Timmelsjoch, this is one of the most spectacular roads that enrich the South Tyrol region, in this case connecting Italy and Austria through a mountain road that is just over 2,500 meters. It is a partially toll road, but on the other hand, you enjoy a phenomenal driving experience, thanks above all to its always excellent surface conditions. Traffic can be variable, especially in the middle of summer, so it is advisable to plan a trip here at the beginning or at the end of the season and admire the alpine road that leads through the majestic Ötztal glacier.
Location: Moso in Passiria (ITA) – Sölden (AUT)
Type: mountain road
Length: 54 km
Elevation: 2.509 m
Another interesting feature of this incredible road away from the main traffic routes is the fact of finding numerous rest areas and as many architectural sculptures along the way, an ideal and different vehicle for communicating with tourists about the spectacle of this incredible place. On January 2021, due to a sudden fire, the museum – oriented in the direction of the wind that rises from the Ötztal – has been destroyed, leaving all the classic motorcycles and memorabilia to dust.
