TIRES | Performance Winter Tires
Winter and snow do not necessarily mean that you will have to give up driving fun until spring, because each brand has developed suitable rubbers that can increase the safety factor without thereby penalizing the drivability of the car, including sports vehicles, which having several horses and a wider than normal treads need even more a tire capable of discharging snow and water along its grooves. Thanks to this type of tires an almost total use of supercars is therefore possible, which if also equipped with four-wheel drive become unstoppable even on surfaces with very little grip and which would usually have been exclusive playground for off-roaders or less exotic cars.
We have selected 2 tires to be analyzed quickly and explain to you why we consider them the best winter tires of the lot.
MICHELIN PILOT ALPIN
It is probably the ideal kind of tire when you want to make the most out of your sports car (or supercar as well) on snow-covered surfaces. The secret of the Alpin is not only its directional asymmetrical tread, which thanks to the grooves and the self-locking sipes guarantee maximum grip and directionality, but we also find a special bit called Helio Compound + which guarantees incredible elasticity at low temperatures. Finally, the internal structure is reinforced thanks to a special technology developed by the brand and this translates into excellent braking distances, total control and comfort and safety at high speeds.
DUNLOP SP WINTER SPORT
It is a tire developed mainly for sports cars equipped with wheels with a reduced side profile and large rim diameter. The special V groove allows to avoid the aquaplaning effect, while the special blocks positioned on the sides of the rubber allow a better distribution of the weight and therefore of cornering and grip on wet and snowy surfaces, all to the advantage of better performance, but above all of constant traction regardless of the type of road condition.
