Un Vrai Enfant Terrible
It’s the new Peugeot 308 Racing Cup and is the French’s lion most exciting product since the 205 GTI. Based on the 308 GTI road version, but with 38 more horsepower, precisely delivers, guess how much, 308 horses! The heir of the RCZ Racing Cup, presented at the last Frankfurt Motor Show has struck on us not only for its numerical coincidence, but for a whole range of factors matured from a rich experience gained over the years and that will see this new “enfant terrible” nibble the curbs of circuits all around the globe.
Some specs? The engine is derived from the 1.6cc THP of the standard 308 GTI, but equipped with a turbocharger borrowed from the 208 T16. The 6-speed sequential gearbox with paddles on the steering wheel shoots grounds the fateful 308 hp on the front wheels only, but the main point of this racing car is a weight below the ton (1,000 kg to be exact), thanks to the use of lighter panels and the removal of any form of comfort. It is a race car, you do not need stereo or navigation system, the seat must convey the slightest change of the asphalt and the sound of the new sports exhaust must enter the vehicle and provide valuable input to the racing driver. Finally, to increase grip, the 18″ wheels are fitted with specific slick or rain tires.
The 308 Racing Cup is a lion that does not intend to reign his Savannah sleeping sly under a scorching sun, but want to put on fire the circuits all over the world, and judging by the look, so wickedly sensual, we are sure that it will be an easy target to accomplish.
