Vengeance Is Mine
After a seemingly unstoppable run of success at the 24h of Le Mans, last year, Team Audi had to give the headlines to Porsche, which just the second year after the return to the top endurance series, gained the victory after a perfect race. The brand with the four rings will not certain wait and look and then this is what they have just unveiled for the next edition: the new R18 e-tron Quattro LM has landed and promises to sweep away the competition with no half measures. Despite the difficult period for diesel engines, the new R18 has an upgraded 4.0 turbodiesel V6 and an aerodynamics further refined in order to provide better performance and reduce fuel consumption, a crucial aspect in a competition that lasts 24 hours. The usual extreme care is put into details, those that traveling at about 350 per hour make the real difference, but the statement that has surprised, in part, a bit everyone is that Team Audi will field only 2 cars, instead of 3. However, it will be an exciting race and we can’t but wish – may the best win. Bringing back to the top step of the podium a diesel engine, it would be a victory on many fronts. No doubt about it.
