It was not easy to decide with which model we should start our new web section dedicated to those cars, no longer brand-new, that however know how to give us strong emotions. In the end, wanting to pay homage to Volkswagen for the 40 years anniversary of the legendary Golf, we opted for a model not too recent, but at the same time not too old, that we are sure is able to put together everybody. With the Golf V R32, VW experienced a moment of important developments, equipping their more powerful car, not only with a 3.2 naturally aspirated engine, generous and thirsty, but making available the new dual clutch gearbox (DSG), faster and more efficient, which will become then a “must” in the years to follow. A still modern look, for a compact that is able to go at 250 per hour and that you can take home with about 15.000 €. The all-wheel-drive transmission does not disperses the power and makes it usable 365 days a year, regardless of snow or roads in poor conditions. If you are lucky enough to find a good specimen, preserved well both mechanically and aesthetics, with the amount of money you would spend for a brand new Chinese hatchback, you bring home something more than a special car. A piece of history worthy of Golf’s 40 years. (do not miss on our next magazine’s issue, the review about its granddaughter, the 300-bhp Golf VII R).
