Welcome Back Motorsport!
On September 6th the very first edition of Emilia Romagna Motorfest has took place, event open to all lovers of speed and adrenaline and held at the Autodromo of Modena, ideal playground for a day that marked a strong impact on the Italian automotive world.
From the first lights of the morning, the circuit began to fill with people: those who brought their racing cars to the track, those who left home directly behind the wheel of the sports car that would unleash between the curbs after a few hours, but also many major sponsors, clubs from all over the peninsula and especially countless people and fans ready to experience an event that will be a fixed point on the calendar for each of us for the next few years. Behind this motor show, lived mainly on track, but also in the paddock and in the area behind the pits, the dream of a car guy, Angelo Antonelli, who in recent years has given shape to his ideas, turning them into a solid design that earned credibility even before the event itself saw the light. Brands like Sparco and Michelin have come, by providing their experience to the many participants, arrived with the most different cars. There were Mini, Abarth, Ford and Renault RS, but also Ferrari, Porsche, Radical and the inevitable Lotus, always at ease between the curbs of a circuit. Making a list of all the participants would be useless and too long, but the “sold out” event confirms once again the goodness of the project guaranteed by the perfect management of the day and of all that has been sewn around.
We at Auto Class have sent 10 of you, for playing between the curbs, perhaps ending the tires for some drift more, or perhaps taking out gallons and gallons of petrol, but we are certain that you enjoyed the day and we invite you to keep you updated, because our collaboration with the ERmotorfest is only at the beginning and still has so much to offer to all car guys around. In addition, you can write to info@autoclassmagazine.com to request our photo book of the event or just to ask for your photos, captured by our exceptional photographers, that with their usual professionalism have immortalized every moment.
We had a chat with Angelo, immediately after the end of this great day and here’s what he told us:
Hello Angelo, adrenaline is still not dropped and so I think it’s the right time to ask: what did this first edition of the Emilia Romagna Motorfest mean to you?
Well, I have to say that despite 24 hours have passed from the event, emotion is still very strong, we have written a piece of motorsport history, putting together a disproportionate number of cars, from racing ones to those that we use every day. The determination in setting up this project was crucial and I must say that the public response has been phenomenal: the inaugural edition is always a “zero” edition and I truly have to say that we did a great job. For me, this project means the realization of a dream cultivated 12 months, made of genuine passion for motorsport with four wheels.
Difficulties were many, but in the end, the joy of seeing everyone happy is priceless.
A mainstream but unique event, as it has set the goal of bringing fans to the world of track day, sharing the love for cars between owners of modern and classic sports cars, supercars and racing myths. The perfect recipe?
For the first edition, or as I like to call it, edition ZERO, it is the perfect recipe.
In Italy, over the years, this culture of motorsport is a bit ‘lost, increasingly becoming a real business, losing the values that once were the basis of motorsport.
Yesterday we got confirmation that it is possible to combine everything in a single frame, looking for a common guideline to the format of the festival, which is what motorsport really represents.
Can you tell us something about what’s in store for the coming months?
I can anticipate that we are already working on the 2.0 edition and that will be even bigger and with some big news that we’re going to reel off during the year.
Obviously the Company does not stop at the ERmotorfest, I’m working at 360° on the “Academy” project, so as to form, train and approach, with minimum operating costs, future drivers to the racing world, an ambitious project but of sure success.
