Wherever I May Roam With The New Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport

In 1961, the Jaguar E-Type was unveiled to the public: it was the Geneva Motor Show and the first model seen from the eyes of the world was driven by Coventry to Geneva by Jaguar executive Bob Berry. Exactly, driven on the road and I also add that Mr. Berry certainly did not use a soft foot on the throttle during his way down the Continent. Something unthinkable to our days, something that belongs to a different time and mentalities now extinct, but think about it – there is something unmatched in all of this. Driving as the sole principle behind everything that revolves around the car itself. No marketing, commonsense or motorhome for the staff. A true Jaguar has to be driven and every excuse is good.
These black and white images pass through my head all night and finally it’s time to give them colors, thanks to the Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport waiting for me in front of the door. It is an edition that will be produced only for 2018, both in coupe and convertible version (like the one tested) with a supercharged 3.0 V6 that delivers 400 horsepower and a spec that focuses the intentions of this F-Type on sportiness and on driving pleasure. I open the exhaust valves, put in Dynamic, move the 8-speed gear lever to Sport and choose to use the paddles behind the wheel. Then I leave a bit of tires on the ground and I escape for a glorious ride, without a precise destination – since the best part will undoubtedly be the journey and when the bends start asking more decision, I take advantage of the all-wheel drive and the 6-cylinder power, as if I had an appointment I absolutely cannot miss. My very own Geneva is waiting for me, but the good thing is that I will not have to wait for the end of a motor show, I can run back and drive this cat with sharp claws. Roaming anywhere there is a road deserving it. Roaming for the pure pleasure of driving.
