Starting on October 15, save the date for a weekend designed and dedicated for you to live the most profound motoring experience: the Memorial Marco Turci, which now in its twelfth edition is ready to welcome car enthusiasts from all over Europe, providing different participation packs and making you live an unforgettable experience in the Italian Motor Valley. A chance to stay together, meet new people sharing the same passion and drive free on track.
We had a chat with Davide Zaccarelli, organizer and founder of the event:
Hello Davide, tell us something about the Memorial Turci.
The Memorial Marco Turci was born from close friends of Marco Turci, a young boy of Mirandola, very passionate for cars, which unfortunately and for causes yet to be ascertained, was victim of a dreadful accident, in the fire aboard his Maserati 2.24 at 25 years old …. a terrible situation for everyone, that made us take an immediate decision to devote a meeting for enthusiasts in memory of Marco, with the first editions that involved only Maserati models, so to try to exorcise what happened and try to give a 360 degrees message to all the fans of sports cars to drive safe on the road, and that’s why, in addition to the day of Mirandola, we have always added a day at the track, to give free rein to the horses, but safely, because we think this is the greatest message that we can draw from what happened to Marco: passion, but always without endangering our lives and especially that of the others.
Last year, more than 200 cars arrived in Mirandola, and I do not hide the difficulties that we encountered in driving such a large convoy through our earthquake zone, but in the end, the result has paid off the efforts and we hope that this edition is going to please everyone, as usual.
Who should attend this special event?
This meeting is structured to be able to provide all fans of sports cars and classic cars, regardless of what kind of car, to be able to be with us, attending only to Sunday with a truly friendly cost, or taking nearly a week of vacation to devote to the world of motorsport with factory visits, museums, and the inevitable day at the track, which this year will be at the Cremona Circuit, in San Martino del Lago, a new and very fast circuit, surely able to make our participants’ hearts beat. Our spirit is this, friendship and the chance to stay with friends and have fun along the streets below Modena-Mantua, then sit all together at the table in front of a good glass of Lambrusco, because the Turci event, as well as a gathering, is a vehicle for the promotion of Mirandola’s local products. The highlight of this edition is represented by the first official meeting of the Alfa 155 V6 TI, the last great Italian sports car, which currently has already confirmed six cars for this special reunion.
There are lots of opportunities to participate and countless activities offered to the participants. What do you expect from this 2015 edition?
I would say that we give every possible choice on how to participate: it starts by a comprehensive gathering, thought indeed for a group of friends coming from France and Switzerland, who for years regularly participate at the Memorial Turci and this is available in a limited number of places, and then, up to the participation on Sunday or for the day at the track.
On the official website of the event www.memorialmarcoturci and on Auto Class Magazine, you can view all the packages and find the one tailored for you, download the application form.
For this reason, despite the change of management of the circuit, we believe we can have a good number of participants, and the subscriptions that we have already received are far superior to last year, with the arrival of vintage and pre war cars, including the presence of some clubs of vintage tractors and military vehicles.
Something in mind for next year’s edition?
First, it’s fair to say that we hope to make a good edition in 2015, with sunshine and many participants, as it seems that we will have, but we can already anticipate that after this edition, because of some problems we had in the spring because of the circuit, which have a little ‘affected the orientation and partnerships this year, but we are already working on various projects for 2016, including the International Abarth gathering during the Memorial Turci, in collaboration with the Abarth International Register and the Foundation Carlo Abarth, which is expected to launch the event to European levels: an event that combines the spirit of the racing track, with a pretty nice driving experience and the culinary excellence of the region Emilia Romagna.
We think we have all the ingredients ready, and also thanks to the fundamental support of media like Auto Class Magazine, we are sure to achieve excellent results in the years to come.
