Turbo | Cinema
Turbo rightfully enters our section dedicated to motoring-themed cinema and does so without half measures, with a story as simple as capable of entertaining both adults and children for 90 minutes. DreamWorks aims straight at the heart of those who dream big and repeats that “there are no dreams too big, just as there are no dreamers too small”, these are the words of the Indy Racing champion Guy Gagné, which inspire the young snail Turbo, anxious to interrupt the work routine of the colony in which he lives near a random garden. One day, after a daring accident, he discovers he has achieved super speed and, meeting Tito, a boy with equally big dreams, they understand that the future is called Indianapolis 500.
TITLE: Turbo
YEAR: 2013
DIRECTED BY: David Soren
LENGHT: 1h 36 min
GENRE: animated
The animated film promptly ticks off all the features you would expect: comedy, moments of reflection, funny gags – also thanks to a notable cast that lends its voice to the various characters (Ryan Reynolds for Turbo and Paul Giamatti for brother Chet) – and the adrenaline unleashed during the Indy 500, where the champion Gagné demonstrates that he is ready to do anything to maintain his title, even breaking the dreams of the courageous snail. A racing movie where the cars are not the protagonists, but where you will find yourself on the edge of the sofa cheering for Turbo, one lap after the other, rediscovering how values such as friendship and family are the basis for a life in which even the biggest and most unthinkable dreams must be chased and maybe even realized. Recommended to everyone.
