Winter Marathon 2016
This year, the snow missed the 28th edition of the Winter Marathon, which with the usual event in Madonna di Campiglio, welcomes 120 teams entered and ready to deal with all sorts of conditions. For the Winter Classic, many have come from far away and you can tell that they have already experienced a pre-race while traveling thousands of kilometers with their vintage cars, with even harder challenges there waiting: three-quarters of the regularity competition in fact, are held at night and with the crossing of important Dolomites Passes. As always, the race event is preceded by the first race on the ice track. Then the start and the finish lane, always in the beautiful Madonna di Campiglio, with more than 400 km to go and 55 time trials. Although there was no snow, the Pordoi pass, at 2,239 meters above sea level, which some have faced with open roof and with a temperature of – 8 degrees, definitely was a show on its own and experience exhausting but unforgettable drives for participants and spectators. This year we witnessed a massive presence of the Stuttgart brand, in fact, Porsche has entered the competition with an amazing lot of vintage models, ranging from a 1955 356 A Coupe, a ’56 Speedster, until the legendary 1973 Carrera RS. Interest in the historical Porsche cars is always growing and this is partly due to their reputation for being such competitive and robust cars, suitable for any use, both on road and track. After the race, and the special stage for the top finishers on the ice course, which was followed by the prize-giving, even if only taking part in this event is already a victory, the competition, after having arranged the various coefficients assigned according to the year of the vehicle, times recorded, etc., went to the team composed by Spagnoli – Parisi, on their 1932 Fiat 508 S.
